Commitment to Accessibility

Devonleigh Homes is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive environment for our customers, employees, job applicants and members of the public.

We are committed to meeting the applicable requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR), and to identifying, preventing and removing barriers to accessibility.

Accessible Feedback

Devonleigh Homes welcomes feedback regarding the accessibility of our goods, services and facilities and the manner in which we provide services to people with disabilities.

Feedback, including compliments, concerns or complaints, may be provided by email, telephone, in writing or in person at our Head Office.

If an individual requires an accessible format or communication support to provide feedback, Devonleigh Homes will consult with the individual to determine a suitable method based on their accessibility needs.

Accessibility-related feedback will be reviewed by the appropriate Devonleigh Homes representative. Where a response is requested or appropriate, Devonleigh Homes will respond in a manner that takes the individual's accessibility needs into account.

Accessible Formats and Communication Supports

Devonleigh Homes is committed to communicating with people with disabilities in ways that take their accessibility needs into account.

Upon request, Devonleigh Homes will provide or arrange for information and communications to be provided in an accessible format or with communication supports in a timely manner and at a cost that is no more than the regular cost charged to others.

Devonleigh Homes will consult with the individual making the request to determine a suitable accessible format or communication support based on their accessibility needs.

Service Animals

Devonleigh Homes welcomes people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal.

A person with a disability who is accompanied by a service animal will be permitted to enter Devonleigh Homes premises with their service animal and keep the animal with them in areas that are open to the public, unless the service animal is otherwise excluded by law.

Where a service animal is prohibited by law from entering a particular area, Devonleigh Homes will work with the individual to determine an appropriate alternative way to provide access to our goods, services or facilities while taking the person's accessibility needs into account.

Devonleigh Homes employees will respect an individual's use of their service animal and will not unnecessarily interfere with or distract the animal while it is working.

Notice of Temporary Disruptions

Devonleigh Homes will provide notice to the public when there is a temporary disruption to facilities or services that people with disabilities normally use to access our goods, services or facilities.

Notice will be provided in a manner appropriate to the circumstances and may include posting a notice at the affected location, entrance or service area, on the Devonleigh Homes website, or through another appropriate method of communication.

Devonleigh Homes will make reasonable efforts to ensure that people with disabilities are informed of the disruption and any available alternatives.

Accessibility Training

Devonleigh Homes will provide accessibility training to applicable employees and other individuals as required.

Training will include the applicable accessibility standards and the Ontario Human Rights Code as it relates to persons with disabilities.

Training will be appropriate to the duties and responsibilities of the individuals receiving the training, and Devonleigh Homes will maintain records of training completion.
